The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has completed its recruitment process of the police constables for the year 2015
This is the second recruitment which has been made through NTS. The AIGP Establishment Najeeb-ur-Rehman Buqvi gave a presentation to the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhutnkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani about the process and procedure adopted during the recruitment.
The AIGP Establishment informed that a total of 54,102 persons applied for the posts of police constables against 1605 vacancies in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. Out of these only 16,008 candidates could qualify the physical measurement standards and the physical endurance test. Those who qualified the physical test appeared in the written examination conducted by the accredited independent body, the National Testing Service (NTS). Only 2,990 candidates successfully passed the test carried by NTS. The pass percentage was 18.7 percent.
After passing the NTS examination, the candidates underwent psychological examination which was conducted by a board of psychological experts for determining their suitability for joining the profession of police. The psychological board declared 79 candidates as unfit for the police service.
A total of 1605 candidates have now been enlisted as police constables in all the districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after their medical tests and verification of antecedents. The ratio of enlisted constables to the applicants comes to 2.96 percent meaning thereby that out of 100 candidates only 3 could make it to the final merit list.
The range wise break-up of the recruitment is as follows: out of the 1605 enlisted constables, 166 have been recruited in Peshawar, 358 in Mardan Region, 166 in Kohat Region, 143 in Bannu Region, 98 in DI Khan Region, 155 in Hazara Region and 519 in Malakand Region. Moreover, 36 Special Police Officers (SPOs) have also qualified and have been enlisted as police constables.
The education wise analysis of the successful candidates reveals that 87 percent have either college or university degrees and only 13 percent are matriculates, which was the minimum qualification requirement. A further analysis bears out the fact that 128 of these police constables have postgraduate degrees, 390 have graduations, 879 have passed FA/FSc while only 208 are matriculates.
It is pertinent to mention that it was for the first time in the history of country that any government department had taken the initiative to outsource the recruitment to be conducted through an independent professional agency. This has induced fairness, transparency, credibility and meritocracy in the KP police recruitment process thereby raising the public confidence. Further, it has led to enlistment of highly qualified, talented and promising individuals out of the available lot who are expected to perform their duties with honesty and integrity.
Since the quality of enlisted constables is extraordinary, therefore in order to give them an incentive for rising to higher posts in the field, it has been decided that 25 percent posts in each rank up to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police will be reserved for Fast Track Promotion to be filled through Competitive Examination conducted by the Public Service Commission.
